A Conversation Before Therapy
How Telehealth Therapy Works in California
Telehealth is a therapy appointment by video while you are located in California. The practice offers 50-minute sessions for individual, couples and family concerns, with clinician fit and format discussed before scheduling. A private setting matters because the conversation may involve anxiety, relationships or something difficult to say aloud.

Your Location During the Appointment
You must be in California at the time of each session, even if home or work plans change. A trip outside the state affects whether that appointment can take place. We can discuss scheduling around travel before a session rather than assuming video care is available from any location.
Privacy Gives the Conversation Room
A setting where others cannot overhear helps you speak about a relationship exchange or mood concern. A stable connection is also needed for the video conversation. If the setting makes it hard to talk, we want to hear about that instead of treating the technical arrangement as separate from the work.
What Happens on Video
You and the clinician can discuss goals, thoughts, emotions and relationships much as you would in an office conversation. CBT skills or mindfulness practices may be explained when relevant. Your feedback helps us understand whether the exercise and the video setting make sense for the concern you brought.
Clinician Times and Participation
Some clinicians offer weekday daytime and evening telehealth; appointment times depend on availability. Teens, couples and families can ask how participation would work before scheduling. We do not assume separate locations or a particular arrangement will fit without that conversation, especially when privacy and shared participation need attention.
When to Reach Out
Video care may be worth discussing when the office format does not suit your circumstances or you prefer a conversation from home. The consultation can include privacy and clinician fit. In an emergency, call or text 988 or call 911; a video therapy appointment is not an emergency response service.
How We Can Help
Our Telehealth page explains California video care and the setting it requires. A free 15-minute phone consultation can cover availability, participation and insurance questions. Coverage depends on your plan; superbills are available for out-of-network care, and you can contact us for rates before arranging a session.
