Frequently Asked Questions
These answers cover contacting us, session formats and benefits before scheduling care. Questions about starting therapy are welcome, including the practical ones.

Getting Started
How Can I Contact the Practice Before Scheduling?
You can call or text (619) 821-4371, or email jedwards@newconstellationtherapy.com. We can talk about your concern, a clinician’s focus or appointment format. The website form is unavailable, so phone or email is how to reach us for now.
What Can We Discuss During the Introductory Phone Call?
The free consultation lasts 15 minutes by phone. We can talk about what prompted you to seek care, fit, availability or rates. If you have a clinician in mind, their name and the kind of session you are considering help us understand your questions.
Which Ages Does the Practice See?
We see teens ages 13 to 17, young adults ages 18 to 25 and adults ages 26 to 64. Couples and families can also ask about sessions. For a teen, their age and your concern help us discuss which care might fit.
How Are Initial Therapy Goals Discussed?
You and your clinician can begin with a recent situation, such as panic at work or conflict at home. We talk about what you want to address and return to that focus using your feedback. Your story doesn’t need to arrive all at once.
Sessions and Formats
How Much Time Should I Set Aside for an Appointment?
Individual, couples and family therapy appointments last 50 minutes. Video sessions need that time without other tasks competing for your attention. For an office appointment, we can confirm the format with you before you come to San Diego.
What Are the Office and Video Options?
The office is at 9655 Granite Ridge Drive, Suite 200, San Diego, CA 92123, in Kearny Mesa. Telehealth is for clients located in California during the appointment. We can discuss your clinician’s format and availability, since not everyone offers both options.
What Should I Arrange Before a Video Session?
A private space and stable connection support secure video therapy. You need to be in California at the time of the session, including when traveling. For a teen, we can talk about the setting and parent involvement before appointments begin.
How Is Family Participation Discussed in Care?
We consider family involvement alongside the client’s concerns and goals. For teens, privacy and parent communication are discussed when care begins. Families supporting someone with mood or psychosis-related symptoms can ask about participation and psychoeducation; their questions have a place in that discussion too.
Insurance and Fees
Which Benefit Details Should I Confirm With My Plan?
Your plan can confirm outpatient mental health benefits, telehealth coverage, deductible, copay and prior authorization. Coverage depends on your plan. Being in network is only part of the picture, so checking the benefits for your appointment helps clarify what you may owe.
How Do Rates and Out-of-Network Benefits Work?
We can share session rates when you contact us. For out-of-network benefits, we provide superbills you can submit according to your insurer’s requirements. Your plan decides reimbursement and can explain which benefits apply and what it accepts before you make financial arrangements.
How Much Notice Is Needed to Change an Appointment?
We ask for at least 24 hours notice for a cancellation. A late cancellation or no-show carries a $100 fee. If you have questions about the policy, we can talk them through before you schedule, so you know what applies when plans change.
What Estimate Can I Request Without Using Insurance?
Without insurance, the No Surprises Act gives you a right to request an estimate of expected charges. We can talk about a Good Faith Estimate before your appointment. Insurance and Fees also explains our networks, superbills and cancellation policy, so practical questions can be part of planning care.
