A Conversation Before Therapy
What Happens in a Free 15-Minute Consultation
The free consultation is a 15-minute phone conversation about fit, availability and questions before therapy. You can briefly describe what brings you here without preparing a complete history. A parent concerned about a teen, an adult seeking support or a couple asking about appointments can begin with that question.

A Brief Account Is Enough
You might mention repeated arguments, an anxious evening or a change in your young person's mood. We listen for the concern and the kind of conversation you are hoping to have. You do not have to decide on a diagnosis or explain every event before asking about services.
Fit Includes More Than a Method
We can discuss individual, couples or family care and whether the concern fits the practice. Questions about psychosis assessment or support for a teen may need a different discussion from a shared relationship concern. When another level of care is needed, referrals can be part of the conversation.
Format and Availability
The practice offers in-person appointments at 9655 Granite Ridge Drive, Suite 200, San Diego, CA 92123, and telehealth across California. Clinician formats and times vary. We discuss your preference before scheduling; for video sessions, you must be located in California and have a private setting.
Insurance and Fees Questions
Coverage depends on your plan, and superbills are available for out-of-network care. You can ask what information to verify with your insurer. We do not publish session rates; contact us for rates so the practical questions can be discussed before you commit to an appointment.
When to Reach Out
A question about therapy is enough reason to contact the practice. The consultation is not a therapy session, diagnostic evaluation or emergency service. In an emergency, call or text 988 or call 911 rather than waiting for a scheduled phone conversation about fit.
How We Can Help
Our Contact page provides the practice phone and email for arranging the conversation. You can call or text (619) 821-4371 or email jedwards@newconstellationtherapy.com. We can hear what you want support with, discuss availability and explain questions to settle before a 50-minute therapy appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I Need to Share My Entire History?
No, the consultation is a brief discussion of fit and questions. A recent concern can help explain what brings you here.
Is the Consultation a Therapy Appointment?
No, it is a free 15-minute phone conversation before therapy. Therapy appointments last 50 minutes and involve a fuller discussion of the work.
Can I Ask About Insurance Before Scheduling?
Yes, coverage questions can be discussed during consultation. Benefits still need verification because coverage depends on the plan.
